Yesterday, I was at the Clarence Avenue Market, where they make and market their own sausage. I noticed some packages that were labelled, "Homicide Pepperoni Sticks" or "Homicide Buffalo Pepperoni Sticks", likely indicating that they are very hot. Aren't things that are very hot are usually referred to as "suicide"?
su·i·cide
1. to kill (oneself).
2. destruction of one's own interests or prospects
hom·i·cide
1. the killing of one human being by another.
2. a person who kills another; murderer.
I asked the clerk, "By calling these 'homicide', aren't you implying that you are intentionally killing people with them?".
He said, "I was wondering about that myself. When they asked me to label the packages, I thought it didn't seem quite right".
I replied, "I'll get one, and if I don't came back next week, you'll know why".
I really just want to send the package to Jay Leno for "Headlines" ... if I can make it that long ...
